· Re: pto take off pully Post by kully560 » Sun May 09, 2021 2:28 am mine has a taper also but on the outside of the pully there is a 3/8" bolt through the outside hub to clamp on the shaft.

· The other splined output shaft on the trans is the mid PTO shaft. There is the front axle driveshaft as well. Of course there is the rear PTO shaft on the rear. Here you can clearly see the engine to trans shaft. The mid PTO shaft is directly under the spin-on oil filter for the trans. You can't see the front MFWD shaft in this picture.

· Its got a long PTO shaft that is fully enclosed in a 2 part plastic sleeve. Can't see the actual metal shaft inside. Seems that over the course of the winter the 2 shaft parts may have rusted together??? Or something else seems to have caused them to fuse. I can't get the shaft to slide. If it won't slide, it won't hook up to the PTO spindle.

You shouldn't use the impeller tool to remove the pto anyway, it will strip or break, a large pipe wrench with an extended pipe on the end is the answer. Don't jerk it, just keep applying more and more steady force at the end of the 4' bar and it will break loose.

· Granted this or a slide hammer won't work IF THE PTO hole is also threaded. Also thinking about getting two longer bolts the size/thread of the ones that mount/dismount the pulley from the hub. Longer bolts would dead end on the pulley face that is now flush to the transmission thus these will also force the hub outward as they tighten.

· Jul 20, 2020. #1. Buddy has a 106 that he bought used. Some previous owner put wide frame springs on the PTO clutch. They are all misaligned and the clutch won't disengage. I'm going to redo it for him but I can't get the clutch to release enough to get the set screws aligned with the notches on the basket pulley.
